Catching up on sharing images on the blog since I’m on summer break from teaching! Over the past couple of years I’ve gone back to teaching middle school art full time. I absolutely love being back in the classroom, but I still love photographing senior portraits just as much. You’ll still see sneak peeks from senior sessions popping up on my Instagram beginning in August. Summer gives me a little chance to catch my breath before senior portrait season overlaps with the start of a new school year in September. One of the sessions I’ve been most excited to share is Jasmine’s Boston Fan Pier Park senior portrait session in the Seaport District.
She had her heart set on Boston, so we met in the Seaport District at Fan Pier Park. It’s such a great location for senior portraits because there’s so much variety within a short walk. We have beautiful views of Boston Harbor, the city skyline, cobblestone streets, and modern architecture all within a short walk. It gives seniors a little bit of everything without having to drive from location to location.

The weather was slightly overcast, which is honestly one of my favorite conditions to photograph in. Instead of harsh sunlight and squinting eyes, we were treated to gorgeous soft light that flattered every image and let the focus stay on Jasmine.
Jasmine brought a couple different outfits, which worked perfectly with the different locations around Fan Pier. Her white dress was really sweet and worked perfectly against the waterfront and greenery. While her casual black top and jeans gave the session a more modern, city-inspired vibe. Switching outfits is always a great way to add variety to a gallery. I always have my changing tent with me to make outfit changes super easy.

One of my favorite things about photographing seniors is helping them feel comfortable in front of the camera. Most seniors tell me they’re nervous at first because they’ve never had professional portraits taken before. Usually within a few minutes they’re laughing, relaxing, and enjoying the experience. Jasmine was no exception, and her genuine smile and confidence really shine through in these images.
I’m so excited to finally share a few favorites from her Boston senior session. Congratulations, Jasmine!
