I’m so excited to blog Amy+Paul’s wedding. We spent a lovely day with them at the beginning of May, starting at Amy’s parents house where the ladies were getting ready. Drew hung out with us for a bit and then took the long drive (2 minutes) to the church to meet up with the Paul & the groomsmen at the church. I loved Amy’s dress and she customized it. Celeida, the seamstress at Chantilly Place, took the strapless dress and customized with with a sheer lace sleeve. Amy also added her own beaded belt to the dress by Maggie Sottero. It came out perfectly. I’ve worked with Celeida for many years now and am always amazed at what she can do. She is such a talented seamstress and a huge asset at Chantilly Place. Amy had the R2D2 pin and the plan was to hide it somewhere in her dress as her something blue & because it was #maythe4thbewithyou day. I believe I’m remembering what happened correctly, Drew jokingly suggested putting in the middle of the bow of her belt and we all went…that’s a great idea. I love that Amy went with it, she’s the type that is doing her own thing and I love it. She also wore the headpiece her mom wore for her wedding and it was just the sweetest. I also love that we were able to capture some images of Amy getting ready with her dog, Behr. Behr was busy checking out what everyone was doing. Before we drove over to the church we stopped outside for a couple quick portraits of Amy & her bridesmaids and then a couple with her Mom & Dad. Amy & her bridesmaids bouquets were paper flowers and she requested that some be made from sheet music from Hamilton…so perfectly on theme for the wedding day. It was also the Kentucky Derby day so Amy’s mom and some of her Aunt’s wore lovely fascinators. I love a good fascinator so I was into it. Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony to start. The North Billerica Baptist Church was such a sweet church and the ceremony was very nice, filled with lots of love.
Amy+Paul took some time to say hi to their guests without a formal receiving line and then spent just a few minutes shooting some portraits in front of the church. One of Amy+Paul’s family members surprised them with some floral leis as it’s a Hawaiian tradition. I loved how colorful the lei’s were, they were gorgeous. We had to head out to the reception location its about a 45 minute drive at Hamilton Hall in Salem, MA. Drew and I went to Salem State so we were excited to be back in Salem. We always love going to Salem!
We hit a tiny bit of traffic on our way to Salem, but it wasn’t too bad. We had to wait a bit for Amy’s parents to arrive so we started with some portraits of Amy+Paul while we were waiting for everyone to arrive at Hamilton Hall. Hamilton Hall is nestled right into Salem and is so quintessentially Salem. All the architecture around is federal in style, like Hamilton Hall. We had to stop traffic for a few minutes because the tree lined street is just so pretty. Across the street from Hamilton Hall is a small park that was perfect for more portraits of the wedding party & family portraits. We had to take a couple with Hamilton Hall in the background, it’s such a pretty building. Before we knew it, it was time to head into the reception. Amy+Paul took a little break inside for a couple minutes relaxing while Drew and I were off shooting some details before the guests were welcomed into the reception. I love the decor Amy+Paul went with. It was a hint of art deco vibe with a cinema theme. Each table had a different movie themed centerpiece.
The decor inside Hamilton Hall perfectly went with the vibe of Amy+Paul’s wedding (I’m sure that was why they chose the venue). Look at those ornate mirrors in the ballroom?! Also that chandelier!? Paul’s brother gave the sweetest toast followed by Amy’s friend & maid of honor remembering all the fun times they had hanging out together. It always makes me happy when we get good toasts! After dinner it was time for the rest of the formalities. Cake cutting & parent dances and then it was time to get the dance party started. Mike from Collins Entertainment was great to work with all night long and the dance floor was full all night long.
Thank you again for having us be part of your day. It was filled with so much love & was a day that felt so perfectly “Amy+Paul” which makes me so happy. I love when our couples have elements of the day that are things they love.
