First let me start with saying. All you brides out there looking for a wedding venue. Please get married at the Cliff House and then hire us to shoot your wedding. While I was there I kept envisioning shots that could be taken. If you want a New England “Destination” wedding and you don’t want to deal with the traffic and hassle of getting to the Cape, the Cliff House is your spot. It is gorgeous (as you will see in the photos). Thanks in advance for booking your wedding at the Cliff House & then booking us to shoot the awesome event.
My twister (twin sister) & good friend Alicia have been going to the Cliff House at the end of the school year for the past 2 years. This was the third year, I decided to also attend. It is a 3 day, 2 night trip up to Maine. With the package that we got we had dinner in the fancy restaurant & also some credits we could use at the spa. We even went to downtown Ogunquit, got dinner and drinks and walked around for a bit. It is super cute and I can’t wait to go back next year.
The Spa was very lovely overall. Mel & Alicia got espresso body rubs, that they loved, on the first day. Then all 3 of us got the signature massages on our second day. On the last day, Alicia and I were scheduled to get facials. We checked in & then waited till we were called in to the treatment rooms. Alicia got called in and then I waited & waited & waited. I ended up waiting 30 minutes (there were no clocks & I didn’t have a watch on) finally I went back to the front desk to find out what was going on. They couldn’t find my appointment (but when I was checked in, there was no problem). The spa manager came and talked to me and explained my appointment was mistakenly moved to another time. Unfortunately we had to leave & they were booked solid all day. They ended up comping me for a 30 minute facial and when I was finished they also gave me a gift of some lotions, soaps, and a lovely glass bowl. In the end I was sad that I wasn’t able to get the facial that I was hoping to get but I was impressed with how the dealt with the scheduling issue. I am happy to say that the customer service at the Spa was top notch.
The view from our balcony! Can you even handle how amazing it is!
Mel dramatically opening the complimentary bottle of champagne. They also included a small box of chocolate truffles (you can see the gold box with blue ribbon in the above left photo). They were delish, I am surprised the three of us didn’t fight over them. 🙂
The 3 of us enjoying our Champagne & then toasting to the storm clouds rolling in.
Soon after we arrived a stormed rolled in. It was crazy to see how quickly the clouds moved over us. It rained for only a little bit and then we got to see an awesome rainbow, it made the rain totally worth it. Alicia & Mel did a great job pointing the ominous clouds out so I could take a photo of them. I don’t think you’d notice them without them pointing 🙂
You can walk down some stairs and go right onto the rocks below the Cliff House. I didn’t realize the size of the cliff until seeing it from this perspective. It is crazy big & also a crazy awesome backdrop for photos. Just wait till you see what it looks like lit up at night. It’s even more amazing! The stairs make it so you can easily get down onto the first level of rocks, which is really nice. I ventured lower though it wasn’t too difficult to do.
I woke up at 5 or 6am and noticed the sun was rising. I was still half asleep so I don’t know what time it was. I stumbled out onto the balcony and took the first image below. 🙂
Mel & Alicia enjoying their lobster dinner during our “fancy” dinner.
When I walked down onto the rocks I went by myself, while Mel and Alicia were sunbathing by the pool. I did some self-timer self-portraits. It was interesting trying to find a rock to place the camera on and then figuring out where to sit or stand.
Mel also went down to the rocks and did some self-timer self-portraits too. This was while Alicia and I were getting facials.
Enjoying some delish drinks and some yummy food at Tapa’s & Tini’s in downtown Ogunquit! The Sangria was lovely as well as the raspberry lemonade martini that Mel ordered (I had to order one too). I was a little hesitant about the food choices, but I let Mel & Alicia order and I loved everything that we had. The chorizo & cannellini beans were super yummy (as was everything else we had). If you aren’t familiar with tapas it’s like getting several appetizers sharing them. If you are in the Ogunquit area and you are looking for a place to eat (or just drink) I’d definitely recommend this place.
We had a great time and can’t wait to go back next June (or during the winter if we can’t wait!)
